TEHRAN - Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, chairman of the Expediency Council, has said he will run for a seat in the upcoming Assembly of Experts elections.

The Expediency Council’s public relations office referred to Rafsanjani as having announced his decision on Wednesday in a meeting with a number of PhD students of political science in Tehran, IRNA reported.

He pointed to the upcoming elections as one of the most history-making elections of the Islamic revolution.

Regarding his plans for the elections, he said, “I, too, will come, Insha’Allah.”

The Assembly of Experts elections, along with the Majlis elections, are going to be held simultaneously on February 26 next year.
